Afghanistan's non-participation in the UN Climate Change Conference is a great injustice

However, according to the report published by the International Crisis Group, the organizers of the UN climate change meeting could not find a way to invite this group to the meeting due to the non-recognition of the government of the Islamic Emirate by the countries of the world.
In this case, the National Environmental Administration of Afghanistan has announced that "unfortunately, Afghan representatives have not been invited to this conference".
Referring to Afghanistan's vulnerability to climate change, this administration has said that the non-participation of representatives of the Islamic Emirate in this meeting is a "great persecution and injustice".

Also, this department has said that as it is obvious, climate change and global warming are currently one of the most important environmental problems in the world and the causes of Afghanistan in particular, such as the increase in temperature, the melting of natural glaciers, the rise of the world's open water level, periodic droughts, the occurrence of accidents Naturally, the increase in human and animal diseases is one of its consequences.
This is while, according to this department, Afghanistan's global share of greenhouse gas emissions is 0.08%, which is very small compared to other countries in the world, but it is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world due to the adverse effects of climate change, which ranks sixth in this regard.
The statement states that climate change has worsened the economic and social conditions of the people of Afghanistan, and unseasonal rains and heavy floods have caused a lot of human and financial losses to the people.
In this statement of the National Department of Environmental Protection, it is stated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is committed to reducing the effects of climate change in order to achieve its final goals by using its limited resources.
This department has asked the United Nations to continue its aid to Afghanistan "regardless of political considerations" and to ensure the presence of representatives of the Islamic Emirate in international meetings.
The statement added: "We expect the international partners to continue their support regardless of political issues to deal with this global phenomenon in Afghanistan and to provide the opportunity for the participation of representatives of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in international meetings and conferences regardless of political considerations. "
The COP 28 climate change meeting was hosted by the United Arab Emirates and is chaired by Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber, the executive director of the country's National Oil Company. According to Reuters, more than 70,000 people are expected to participate in the conference, which will continue until December 12.
According to this media report, it is expected that before other discussions, the representatives of the countries will agree on the creation of a new fund to pay the damages caused by climate change to vulnerable and poor countries.

This is the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference. Since the first agreement on climate change in 1992, annual conferences have been held by this organization.
