Cancellation of the military agreement between North and South Korea / Pyongyang deployed new weapons on the border
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: North Korea has announced that it will suspend the military treaty with South Korea and deploy stronger armed forces and new weapons on the border with that country.
According to NBC News, this announcement was made a day after South Korea suspended part of the 2018 military agreement between the two Koreas in protest of the launch of a spy satellite by Pyongyang.
This agreement was signed between Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea, and Moon Jae-in, the then president of South Korea, and its purpose was to reduce the tension between the two countries.
North Korea's state news agency "KCNA" has reported today (Thursday, November 23) quoting the Ministry of Defense of that country that it will return all the military actions that it had stopped under the agreement with South Korea to the previous state.
North Korea's Ministry of Defense has said: "From now on, our military will never commit to the North-South military agreement of September 19. "We will restore military withdrawal measures to prevent tension and military conflict in all areas, including land, sea and air, and we will deploy more powerful armed forces and new types of military equipment along the military border line."
North Korea on Tuesday launched its spy satellite for the third time after two failures.
South Korean officials say that the latest launch was most likely carried out with Moscow's technical assistance in exchange for North Korea's arms assistance to Russia.
