31 Oct 2023 - 13:58

Following the process of deporting Afghan refugees from Pakistan, officials in the Ministry of Refugees and Returnees say that 7,146 Afghan refugees were forcibly returned to the country from Pakistan and Iran on October 31.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Refugees and Returnees has announced the return of 7,146 Afghan refugees from Iran and Pakistan by publishing a notice on X social page on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

According to the announcement; Three thousand and 572 Afghan immigrants living in Pakistan have returned to Kush through the Spin Boldak border of Kandahar province on the 8th of Scorpio.

According to the information of the Spin Boldak border command of Kandahar province, 530 families, including 3,572 people, were forcibly returned from Pakistan.

At the same time, it has been said that 3,574 other Afghan immigrants have returned to the country from Iran.

Meanwhile, the process of deporting Afghan immigrants from neighboring countries, especially Pakistan, has intensified, and the deadline set by Pakistan for Afghan immigrants is also running out.

However, before this, Amnesty International, in an open letter to Anwar Haq Kakar, the Prime Minister of the interim government of Pakistan, asked him to cancel the decision to forcibly deport migrants, especially Afghan citizens without residency documents.

Amnesty International has documented the persecution of Afghan migrants in Pakistan. According to this organization, since October 3rd, since the deadline for deporting migrants was set, the arrest and harassment of Afghan migrants has "intensified".

Amnesty International told Anwar Haq Kakar to continue hosting refugees in the light of international human rights laws and asked the international community to provide financial support to Pakistan to host Afghan refugees.

Simultaneously with the increase in the return of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, the Afghan government has built a "temporary camp" to accommodate these refugees in Nangarhar province.

It should be mentioned that tens of thousands of Afghans have returned to the country from Pakistan after Pakistan set a deadline for Afghan immigrants.
