The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department said that it has sanctioned 11 individuals, 8 entities and 1 vessel in the countries of Iran, China, Venezuela, and Hong Kong, which were involved in helping the development of Iran's missile and drone programs.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The US Treasury Department announced this morning (Thursday) that it has imposed new sanctions against Tehran under Security Council Resolution 2231 under the pretext of the expiration of UN arms restrictions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Ministry's Foreign Assets Control Office (OFAC) said in a statement that it has sanctioned 11 individuals, 8 entities and 1 vessel in the countries of Iran, China, Venezuela and Hong Kong.

In this statement, it is claimed that the new sanctioned items help the development and progress of Iran's ballistic missile and drone programs.

"Brian Nelson", the US Deputy Treasury Secretary for Financial Intelligence and Terrorism, also claimed: "Iran's reckless choice to continue producing drones and other weapons will prolong numerous conflicts in different regions of the world." The United States will continue to take steps to disrupt Iran's proliferation of drones and other weapons to repressive regimes and destabilizing actors, and we encourage the international community to do the same."

OFAC also claimed: "Despite the expiration of Resolution 2231, the United States remains steadfast in its commitment to confront the threat posed by Iran's acquisition, development, and proliferation of missiles, drones, and other military weapons."

The U.S. Treasury Department also stated about the consequences of these show sanctions: "As a result of today's action, all the properties and interests of the mentioned individuals and institutions in the U.S. or in the possession or control of U.S. persons must be blocked and reported to Ofek." OFAC sanctions generally prohibit all transactions by or within the United States involving any assets or interests of sanctioned persons.

"Furthermore, individuals who engage in certain transactions with sanctioned individuals or entities today may themselves be subject to sanctions," the statement concluded. "In addition, any foreign financial institution that knowingly facilitates a significant transaction for or provides significant financial services to any of today's sanctioned individuals or entities could be subject to US sanctions."
