Acting Economy Minister Meets with Japanese New Envoy to Afghanistan

The new envoy of Japan to Afghanistan, met with the acting minister of economy, today.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The meeting was also attended by the former envoy of Japan, Takashi Okada, who completed his three-year mission in Afghanistan.

 
Takashi Okada expressed his condolences to the victims of the earthquake in Herat province and informed the acting minister about Japan’s humanitarian and emergency aid to the affected areas.
 
He said that Japan had sent blankets, food, and medicines to the quake-hit regions and pledged humanitarian aid worth 4.1 million dollars through the UN’s WFP and IOM offices and the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
 
The former envoy also appreciated the achievements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in governance and economy in the past two years and urged the opening of schools and higher education institutes for female students.
 
He highlighted Japan’s support for the construction and repair of 165 schools worth 25 million dollars in Afghanistan.
 
Qari Din Mohammad Hanif thanked Japan for its longstanding and historical friendship with the Afghan people and its assistance in implementing development projects in the agriculture and infrastructure sectors.
 
He said that these projects had created job opportunities for the people and called for good interaction between the two countries.
