At the same time as the World Climate Change Week, Abdul Salam Haqqani, Deputy Financial and Administrative Director of the National Environmental Protection Department of the Islamic Emirate, announced that the amount of rainfall has decreased by 37% compared to previous years in Afghanistan.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Abdul Salam Haqqani said during a meeting in Kabul that at least 1,700 people died last year as a result of climate change and flooding in the country.
According to him, the decrease in rain has also affected the environment.
At the same time, Rafaela Iodis, the representative of the European Union in Afghanistan, also said in this meeting that the events arising from climate change in Afghanistan are human disasters that have affected mostly women.
He noted: "It is clear that the issue of climate change remains a deep and fundamental challenge for the citizens of Afghanistan, especially for the women and children of this country."
This is despite the fact that the citizens of the country, especially the farmers, complained about the lack of rain.
Some time ago, Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the political deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, in a meeting with the Deputy General Administrator of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, emphasized the resumption of projects related to climate change and environmental protection in Afghanistan.
