AVA - €30 Million in Healthcare aid Provided by EU to Afghan People

Jutta Urpilainen, EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, announced that, it has allocated 30 million Euros to support healthcare in Afghanistan.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, On Saturday, Jutta Urpilainen, the European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships, announced on her social media platform X, formerly Twitter, that these aids would be utilized in providing essential healthcare services to the vulnerable citizens of Afghanistan.

It is worth noting that the decision to allocate 30 million euros for Afghanistan was adopted at the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

“In Marrakech, I announced that we are unlocking €30 million for the Afghanistan Resilience Trust Fund’s health pillar. This contribution will help provide essential services to the most vulnerable Afghans,” Urpilainen said.

Meanwhile, the European Union and the World Bank jointly head the Afghanistan Coordination Group.

Before this, the European Union had also announced 3.5 million euros in aid for urgently relieving earthquake victims in Herat province.

Last Saturday, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Herat province, resulting in thousands of casualties and significant financial losses.

Reports indicate that most of the casualties from this natural disaster are women and children needing immediate assistance, including healthcare and hygiene support.

This is happening at a time when many remote areas in the country still lack access to basic healthcare facilities.
