Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate has published a statement saying that this case of positive polio or paralysis of children has been registered in Khogyani district of Nangarhar.
This announcement quotes Nik Wali Shah Momin, the head of the National Polio Eradication Emergency Center in Afghanistan, who wrote that the child infected with this virus is 12 years old.
He did not consider the implementation of polio vaccine to prevent this virus and demanded to reach the cases of maintaining the health of families.
Since the beginning of 2023, five children in Behsud, Batikot, Durbaba, Kot and Nazian districts of Nangarhar have been infected with polio.
According to reports, a young girl died after contracting polio in this province.
Although all six positive cases of polio have been registered in Nangarhar, officials are worried about the spread of this virus to other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the 3rd of May, the nationwide campaign to apply the polio vaccine was started in the country.
More than 11 million children under the age of five are supposed to receive vaccines in this round.
