During a speech at the country's big military parade, South Korea's president threatened that if North Korea uses nuclear weapons, its regime will be destroyed with a decisive response from the Washington-Seoul alliance.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): South Korea started the first large-scale military parade in a decade early Tuesday morning with various weapons from ballistic missiles to attack helicopters to show power in Seoul.
In a speech at Seoul Air Base, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol warned North Korea against using nuclear weapons and pledged to increase support for the military and defense industry.
According to the Reuters news agency, the parade is being held on the occasion of South Korea's Armed Forces Day, which is usually a low-key event compared to the massive actions that North Korea has held.
During a speech at the military parade, Yoon threatened: "If North Korea uses nuclear weapons, its regime will be destroyed by the decisive response of the US-Korea alliance."
He has vowed to respond swiftly and decisively to any actions by North Korea and has actively strengthened military alliances with Washington and Tokyo since taking office last year.
South Korea's Ministry of Defense said that the one-day military parade will feature thousands of troops and country-made tanks and self-propelled artillery, as well as attack aircraft and drones.
