ARCS Facilitates Treatment for Afghan Children with Heart Defects

The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) facilitated the introduction of 30 additional children with heart defects.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, According to an ARCS statement, Mawlavi Muti-ul-Haq Khalis, President of ARCS, met with the families of these children prior to their introduction to the hospitals.

 
Over the past 14 years, ARCS has registered 26,481 children with heart disease, nearly half of whom have received treatment. In the last two years alone, ARCS has referred 1,801 children to hospitals for operations. Of these, 1,600 have completed treatment while the rest are still undergoing treatment.
Mawlavi Muti-ul-Haq Khalis emphasized that ARCS is not a government budget unit.
 
Instead, it funds its operations through income generated from its assets, domestic and foreign charity associations, and donations from affluent individuals within the country.
 
He further stated that ARCS has a broad scope of work and future plans include providing free ambulance services nationwide.
 
This initiative aims to transport sick individuals and deceased members from needy and impoverished families to hospitals and homes.
