9 Sep 2023 - 10:10

Officials at the Torkham crossing say that this crossing has been closed for the traffic of vehicles carrying commercial goods and passengers for four days.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: This crossing was blocked on Wednesday last week due to the border conflict between the border guards of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The local authorities of Nangarhar announced last Thursday that they had started talks with the Pakistani authorities to reopen this crossing, but apparently these talks have not yielded any results.

At the same time, a Pakistani media quoted a foreign ministry official as saying that the crossing will be reopened "soon".

This official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, who spoke to "The Khorasan Dairy" media on condition of anonymity, said that they are negotiating with the authorities of the Islamic Emirate in order to avoid border conflicts in the future.

Torkham crossing was blocked on Wednesday of this week after a clash between Afghan border guards and Pakistani border forces.

According to local sources, four Afghan children, two Islamic Emirate soldiers and two Pakistani soldiers were killed and 16 Afghan citizens and four Pakistani citizens were injured in this conflict.

Local sources say that after the crossing was blocked, hundreds of passengers and vehicles carrying commercial goods were stuck on both sides of the border.

Torkham crossing is one of the busiest border crossings in the country, which is blocked from time to time due to political differences and military conflicts with Pakistan.
