Ayatollah Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, during a speech in South Khorasan province of Iran, has called for the removal of trade restrictions between this country and Afghanistan.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Based on the report of IRNA news agency, Ayatollah Raisi made these statements on Wednesday night, September 6, 2023, in a meeting in South Khorasan province of Iran.
Stating that the exchange of commercial goods between Iran and Afghanistan is an opportunity for both countries, he added: "In relation to the trade between Iran and Afghanistan, South Khorasan is one of the important centers along with Sistan and Baluchistan, and the obstacles to trade with Afghanistan must be removed."
Raisi added: "The border is an opportunity for both sides, and the activation of border markets is an opportunity for the authorities to follow this issue."
These statements are made while the Iranian customs announced at the end of January of this year that after the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, the total value of trade between the two countries was 1.6 billion dollars.
Earlier, the government of the Islamic Emirate had announced that it was looking to expand trade relations with Iran.
