US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, on his third visit to Kyiv since the start of Russia's attack on Ukraine, arrived in the country's capital this Wednesday morning.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): This meeting is taking place while Ukraine's counter-offensive against Russia is entering its fourth month, and contrary to expectations, Ukrainian forces have not been able to achieve much success in recapturing their lost areas.
A senior US State Department official told reporters that Blinken is likely to announce a new package of US aid worth more than $1 billion during his two-day visit.
According to this official, Blinken is expected to meet and discuss with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kolba, as well as several senior officials and prominent figures of the country's civil society.
This is the first visit of a senior American official to Ukraine since the beginning of Kiev's counter-offensive to Russia to recapture the lost areas.
