Officials of the World Committee of the Red Cross say that due to the lack of funds, starting today (Thursday, August 31, 2023), they will hand over the responsibility of financing 25 hospitals to the Ministry of Public Health.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Parviz Ahmed Faizi, the spokesman of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Afghanistan, has said that due to the lack of funds, starting today (Thursday, August 31, 2023), he will hand over the responsibility of financing 25 hospitals to the Ministry of Public Health.
He added that after this, the Red Cross Committee will not pay the salaries of health workers and other expenses of these hospitals due to the cutoff of the aid of this institution and the lack of funds.
Faizi added that this program was created to meet urgent needs and the main goal of the ICRC was to allow officials to organize themselves to take on their responsibilities.
Indragandi Children's Health Hospital is one of the hospitals in Kabul that has been covered by the World Committee of the Red Cross for the past two years. Patients from all over the country come to this hospital. The head of this hospital wants to cooperate in the health sector of the country from the international organizations of health assistants.
Hasibullah Vardak, the head of the Indragandi Children's Health Hospital, told the media: We assure the people that we are at their service as we provided them in the past, and there is no shortage of services.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health says that it is trying to make the country's health sector self-sufficient and will pay the salaries of health workers with the budget of this ministry.
Sharaf Zaman Amarkhel, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health, said that we will pay the salaries of all the employees of these 25 hospitals that provide health services from the Ministry's own budget, and we will provide all the drugs and materials that are needed in the diagnostic department from the internal budget. .
Based on the statistics of the Ministry of Public Health, 5250 health centers across the country provide medical services for citizens, and the majority of these health centers are supported by international organizations.
