Transit trade between China and Afghanistan has started through Pakistan's Khunjrab crossing, and China's first commercial shipment has been sent to Afghanistan through this crossing.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: China's first commercial cargo has been sent to Afghanistan through the Khunjrab Pass in Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan.

The opening ceremony of transit trade from this route was held in Gilgit-Baltistan region with the presence of Pakistani officials.

According to the Associated Press of Pakistan, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, President of the Pakistan Border Customs Brokers Union, said that this will not only increase the volume of trade in the region, but also provide many livelihood opportunities for people related to customs clearance, cargo transportation and oil trade.

Trade through the border of Khanjrab takes place under the international transport convention.

The first shipment started its journey from Kashgar, China, and after passing through the Khunjrab Pass, it will reach Pakistan and then Kabul in Afghanistan.

Chinese officials say that currently Afghan products are going to Pakistan and from there they are imported to China under the Pakistani brand.

China is one of the buyers of Afghan pine and saffron; In November 2021, Afghanistan transferred 45 tons of pine nuts to China through the Air Corridor by Comair Air Company, which the Ministry of Industry and Trade estimated the value of the shipment to be about 1 billion dollars.
