Half of the population of Afghanistan does not have access to sufficient food and health services

The International Committee of the Red Cross for Afghanistan says that half of Afghanistan's population currently lacks access to adequate food and health services, adding that Afghanistan is the second largest Red Cross operation in the world.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The International Committee of the Red Cross has published a statement today (Tuesday, August 29, 2023) saying that now half of the people of Afghanistan need humanitarian aid.
 
Iloy Fillion, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross for Afghanistan, has stated: "This means that a large number of malnourished children, people who have lost a part of their body, and families with colds in the harsh winter nights, all need help, but the number "A few of them will get help."
 
Fillion added that one of the most successful programs that this institution has supported in the last two years is called the Hospital Resilience Program.
 
According to him, this program has paid the salaries of 10,900 doctors, nurses and health workers in 33 hospitals across the country that serve 26 million people.
 
Filion added that the program has provided spices and other medical supplies, as well as electricity, ambulance services, laboratory tests and food for patients, which millions of Afghans have benefited from this vital aid.
 
The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Afghanistan has said that the hospital resilience program was intended as an emergency stoppage measure to prevent the collapse of Afghanistan's healthcare system following the change of power in the country in August 2021.
