Security, trade and the fight against drugs are the focus of Muttaqi's conversation with the Iranian parliament delegation
Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, has discussed and consulted with the seven-member delegation of the House of Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who traveled to Kabul, about further cooperation, security, the fight against drugs, prevention of smuggling, border protection and trade.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Hafez Zia Ahmad, Deputy Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, announced today (Sunday, August 27, 2023) in a message on X about the meeting of Amir Khan Muttaqi with the Iranian Parliament delegation.
According to him, the seven-member delegation of Iran's parliament headed by Javad Karimi Qudousi has come to Kabul.
In a meeting with this delegation, Amir Khan Muttaqi said that with the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, complete security has been established in Afghanistan and the security forces of the Islamic Emirate have been able to eradicate ISIS.
He added that providing national security in Afghanistan is not only for the benefit of this country, but also for the benefit of the region and the world.
The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs has said that the Islamic Emirate has also taken effective measures in the fight against drugs and has reduced opium cultivation to almost zero.
He added that during the previous period of the Islamic Emirate's rule over Afghanistan, there were only thousands of drug addicts in this country, but over the past 20 years, the number of drug addicts has reached four million.
Muttaqi added that the Islamic Emirate has started treating addicts and tens of thousands of addicts have been treated in the past few months.
The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has also said about trade and transit that Afghanistan is currently becoming the center of communication between countries.
He has added that Afghanistan is a good market for Iran's industrial goods, so it is necessary for Afghanistan and Iran to create more facilities in the field of trade and transit and make the most of this opportunity.
The Iranian delegation also said in this meeting that in order to prevent smuggling, manage border problems, both sides should cooperate and also find a solution to prevent the movement of unauthorized people.
The Iranian delegation also added that Iran is ready to share its experiences with the Islamic Emirate in many cases.
Meanwhile, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate had a telephone conversation with Hassain Amir Abdullahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, yesterday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran says that in this conversation, Abdullahian, by re-emphasizing the security of Iran's rights to the Helmand River, and considering the recent visit of the Iranian technical delegation to Afghanistan, said that "these visits will help to provide more transparency based on the 1351 Treaty of Hirmand.
Abdullahian has also demanded the resolution of some other issues.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Muttaqi thanked Iran and said that efforts are underway to solve some problems.
He invited Abdullahian to Kabul and said "the relations between Kabul and Tehran are based on neighborliness and brotherhood."
