The Iranian technical delegation has returned to Tehran after visiting the Dehrawod station and its report is being processed
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: Nasser Kanani, who was speaking at his weekly press conference this morning, Monday, August 14, 2023, answered the question of an IRNA reporter about providing details of the Iranian delegation's visit to the Dehraud water measuring station in Afghanistan. And the chapter on the disputes on the issue of Helmand/Hirmand water rights, he stated: In the framework of the 1351 treaty between Iran and Afghanistan, and considering the repeated pursuits of Iran and the diplomatic apparatus to enforce Iran's water rights, and the statements of the Afghan side, which cited the lack of rainfall as its reason and they said that even if the water is released, it will not reach Iran because of the distance, the Iranian side requested to visit the Dehrawad water measuring station.
He said: At this stage, Iran's request for a visit was approved by Afghanistan's ruling delegation, and a delegation consisting of technical experts from the Ministry of Energy and a number of trustees and officials of Sistan and Baluchistan province traveled to Afghanistan.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran stated: They visited Iran together with the officials of Afghanistan and returned to Iran after the visit in the past few days, and the reports of this delegation are being processed.
He added: Only one of Iran's requests for a visit has been agreed to by Afghanistan, and as Mr. Kazemi Qomi said, the visit to the water gauging station of Dehrawod happened for the first time since 1351 AH, and it is natural that this matter is still being followed up. Diplomatic of Iran is located.
This is despite the fact that yesterday (Sunday, August 13) Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the special representative of Iran's presidency in Afghanistan affairs and head of the country's embassy in Kabul, as well as the deputy of Iran's Ministry of Energy, visited the technical delegation of this country at the water measuring station in Dehrawod.
However, following some conflicting reports, the spokesman of the Ministry of Energy and Water of the Islamic Emirate denied any visit by the Iranian delegation to Kajaki and Kamal Khan dams and only confirmed the visit to the Dehrawod station based on the mechanism of the treaty.
In a detailed statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, while confirming the visit of the Iranian delegation to the Dehrawod station, reported that the delegation accepted that the water level of the Helmand River has decreased.
