National Development Company: The first phase of Qosh Tappa canal will be completed ahead of schedule

Officials of the National Development Company say that 85% of the excavation work of the first phase of the "Qosh Tappa" canal has been completed and the first phase of this canal will be put into operation seven months before the scheduled date.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In continuation of the government's reporting process to the nation, on Tuesday (August 1), officials of the National Development Company shared with the people the one-year achievements of this institution in the presence of the media.
 
Maulavi Abdul Wali Adil, the vice president of this company, said in a press conference that was held for this purpose, that this company has completed 89 large projects in the past year on "water management", "production", "mining" and "construction of dams".
 
Adel added that 85% of the work of the first phase of the Qosh tappa canal project from Kaldar district to Dawlat Abad district of Balkh province has been completed with a length of 108 km and its work will be completed in the near future.
 
He said that according to the previous plan, there is one year left to complete the work of the first phase of this canal; But the efforts of this company have made the work of this phase to be 100% completed in the next three months.
 
Based on Adel's statements; Qosh Tappa canal is excavated with a total length of 285 kilometers and a depth of 8.5 meters, which allows 666 cubic meters of water to pass through at one time. Also, this canal will be built in three phases, the second phase of which is 177 kilometers long and starts from Dawlat Abad district of Balkh province and continues to Aqche district of Jawzjan and then Andkhoi district of Faryab province.
 
He added that the third phase of this project also includes sub-channels and the construction of dams and bridges.
 
According to Adil's statements; with the completion of the Qosh Tappa canal, in addition to irrigating 580,000 hectares of land, underground water sources are also fed.
 
At the same time, Riazuddin Sharifi, Deputy Director of Production and Trade Affairs of the National Development Company, said in this press conference that this company plans to complete the work of Kamal Khan dam's sub-channels project this year in coordination with the relevant bodies.
 
The construction of Mazar-e-Sharif-Hairatan road bridge, the Hairatan railway bridge, the Zabul lace embankment, the construction of the 12-door grand mosque in the country, speeding up the work of Laleh settlement in Kabul were mentioned by Sharifi as other programs of this department in 1402 AH.
 
Sharifi pointed out that the Kamal Khan canal, with a total length of 246 km, can irrigate 50 thousand hectares of land and 94.4% of its work is advanced.
 
Sharifi also said about the cost of the first phase of Qosh Tappa canal that this phase will cost 16 billion afghanis and the money will be provided through mining.
 
Also, around this canal, industrial parks and agricultural lands can create jobs for 6 thousand people directly and for hundreds of thousands more indirectly.
 
It should be mentioned that the Qosh Tappa canal is one of the largest canals in the country, which started from the Amu River in Kaldar district of Balkh province and ends by passing through the plains of Hairatan, Dawlat Abad districts of Balkh and Agcheh Jawzjan in Andkhoi district of Faryab province. This channel is 285 kilometers long, 100 meters wide and 8.5 meters deep.
