Mr. Kharouti emphasized the need for positive relations between the two countries and close collaboration to address the aforementioned concerns. However, he stated that deporting Afghans was not a long-term solution to the problem, as more Afghans would attempt to make the same perilous journey to Turkey over and over again.

 

He suggested that plans be developed so that Afghans traveling to Turkey would be able to work in that country, which would help reduce illegal migration.

 

Recognizing Kharouti’s concerns, the Turkish ambassador pledged to arrange the visit of the Islamic Emirate’s administrative delegation to Turkey in the near future and discuss the migration issue thoroughly with his country’s authorities.
