China's "LandSpace" company launched the first liquid methane fueled rocket into Earth orbit.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to Reuters, a private Chinese company today (Wednesday, July 12, 2023) launched the world's first liquid oxygen-methane rocket into Earth orbit, beating American competitors in sending something that can be sent to the next generation. The launch vehicles to be converted into space, failed.
The Zhuk-2 carrier rocket was launched at 9:00 a.m. local time from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China and completed its flight as scheduled, state media reported.
Wednesday's launch put China ahead of American rivals, including Elon Musk's SpaceX and Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin. The tech giants have been competing to launch methane-fueled launch vehicles, which are less polluting, safer, cheaper and suitable propellants for reusable rockets.
The launch of this missile was carried out by the private company Landspace, which is the second launch of this type by the Chinese. In April, another Chinese company successfully launched a kerosene-oxygen rocket, taking another step toward developing rockets that can be refueled and reused.
Chinese commercial space companies have been rushing into the sector since 2014, when the government allowed private investment in the industry.
It is said that the ZQ-2 rocket with gas generator engines can take a cargo weighing 6000 kg to the earth's orbit at an altitude of 200 km or deliver a 4000 kg cargo to an orbit of 500 km. This rocket is powered by methane.
