The four-day campaign of polio vaccine was started in the eastern zone of the country
The Ministry of Public Health has announced that the polio vaccination campaign has started today in the provinces of Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar and Nuristan, and about 1.2 million children under the age of five are expected to be vaccinated in this campaign.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In the announcement of the Ministry of Health, it is stated that this vaccination campaign will continue for how many days and during this period 1.2 million children under the age of five will be vaccinated.
Meanwhile, local officials in Nangarhar province say that the four-day campaign to eradicate polio in the eastern zone of the country has started today, Saturday (July 8), and 835 thousand and 679 children under the age of five are supposed to receive the vaccine in this province.
Dr. Hakem Khan Gulabzai, the general manager of Katalavi Immunity of this province, asked parents, benefactors and scholars to fully cooperate with the volunteers.
He added that five positive cases of polio have been registered in Nangarhar this year and more positive cases will be prevented during this campaign.
This is despite the fact that before this the World Health Organization had announced that in the last one year, the lowest rate of polio has been recorded in Afghanistan.
According to this organization, Afghanistan is only one more step away from the complete eradication of this disease in the country.
According to reports, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only countries that have not succeeded in completely eradicating polio.
