The number of people killed in the train accident in India reached about 300 people

A government official in the state of Odisha in eastern India announced that the number of dead in the accident of two passenger trains in this state has increased to more than 288 people and the number of injured in this incident has also reached about 900.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): It has been said that three trains were involved in the accident on Friday. However, no official official has yet confirmed this news.
 
The collision between the two trains on Friday has been described as India's deadliest rail accident "in this century".
 
Odisha Chief Minister Pradeep Jena tweeted that the death toll was expected to rise on Friday.
 
The death toll has reached 288, said Odisha Fire Service Director General Sudanshu Sarangi.
 
According to reports, this incident happened on Friday evening around 19:00 local time in Balasore area, and two passenger trains, Coromandel Express and Hora Superfast Express, collided with each other.
 
Indian local and state officials have given conflicting reports about the cause of the accident. Earlier, it was reported that a passenger train collided with another train after derailment.
 
After the news of the accident, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the recovery of the injured in a Twitter message.
 
A massive search and rescue operation involving hundreds of fire personnel and police officers as well as sniffer dogs is underway.
 
Three days of public mourning have been declared in the state of Odisha.
