The World Food Program has said that China has provided financial assistance to this program in order to distribute food to more than 70,000 people who are affected by food insecurity in Afghanistan.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The World Food Program did not mention the amount of China's aid in the announcement and said that with this budget, 70,000 people who are affected by food insecurity will be given life-saving aid.

Wang Yu, the Chinese ambassador in Kabul, said that since 2022, the government and people of his country have donated large amounts of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan to help the people of this country overcome their problems.

He added that the Chinese, having experienced war and famine, know the importance of food well. According to him, the Chinese government continues to help the people of Afghanistan.

Xiao Wei Li, director of the World Food Program in Afghanistan, said that generous donations from donors have helped prevent a humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan since 2021.

He added that the food security situation in the country has slightly improved. However, according to the director of the World Food Program, nearly 15 million people in Afghanistan are facing crisis and emergency levels of food insecurity.

Xiao Wei Li added, "This year, the World Food Program in Afghanistan is facing an acute funding crisis, and this timely contribution from the Chinese government comes at a time when continued support is most needed."

The World Food Program has added that this year, due to lack of funds, it has been forced to reduce its aid.

This program added that with the latest help from China, it plans to buy 1,500 tons of wheat flour, 185 tons of chickpeas, more than 130 tons of vegetable oil, and 15 million tons of salt.

The World Food Program has said that in 2022, it has helped 23 million people in Afghanistan. These aids included 1.14 million tons of food and 325.8 million dollars in cash aid.

Of the 23 million people who have received aid, 11.6 million are women and 12.3 million are children.
