Rihana Bernawi, the first female astronaut from Saudi Arabia, went to the International Space Station.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Falcon 9-SpaceX rocket, which carries Bernay and its companions, took off from Florida, USA, yesterday (Sunday, May 21) local time.
The team includes former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, who will make her fourth flight to the International Space Station, American businessman John Schaffner, breast cancer researcher Reihaneh Barnawi, and Royal Saudi Air Force fighter pilot Ali Al-Qarni.
Rihaneh and Ali are the first people from their country to go to the International Station, although Saudi astronauts had already reached the space.
An astronaut from the United Arab Emirates is supposed to welcome them to the space station.
"It's a dream for everyone," Bernay said before the flight. I can only understand that it is possible. If Ali and I can do it, they can too."
Bernay and his companions should arrive at the space station on Monday morning in their capsule. They will spend more than a week there.
