Russia: Sending "F-16" to Ukraine will cause the West a big problem

21 May 2023 - 11:11

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia warned Western countries about the consequences of providing F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Groshko warned on Saturday (May 20) that Western countries will face "great dangers" if they supply F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.

According to Reuters, he gave this warning in response to a question about the consequences of providing these fighters to Ukraine, which it wants to receive from NATO countries.

Although Ukraine has not yet received a commitment about the delivery of these fighters, a source affiliated with the US government previously informed that Joe Biden told his colleagues in the Group of Seven that he supports a joint program with his Western allies to train Ukrainian pilots to work with F-16 fighters.

In response, Groshko said: We are witnessing that the Western countries are still following the scenario of escalation of tension. This carries huge risks for them.

He added: Anyway, this issue will be included in all our plans and we have all the necessary facilities to achieve the set goals.
Ukraine has told its Western allies that F-16 fighters are more effective than the current fighters of the country's army, which belong to the former Soviet era. Poland and Slovakia have provided 27 MiG-29 fighter jets to Kiev.

Western governments claim to continue supporting Ukraine with weapons in the war with Russia "as long as necessary", but facing the realities of the war, they are worried about the decline in the capabilities of their own armies due to the excessive provision of arms and military equipment to Kiev. They have also avoided giving Ukraine weapons that would enable it to launch attacks deep into Russian territory, fearing Moscow's reaction.

Recently, the leaders of the UK and the Netherlands promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to form a "fighter alliance" to send F-16 fighters to Kiev, but the leaders of both countries did not talk about sending fighters to Ukraine themselves.

In response to the formation of this alliance, the President of Poland Andrzej Duda opposed the granting of his F-16 fighters to Ukraine by declaring that his country's army lacks advanced fighters.
