Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, Officials of the Ministry, media institutions, journalists and cultural figures attended in the meeting held on Wednesday in Kabul, today Wednesday.
Mawlavi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture of the Ministry of Information and Culture said that media can play effective role in foiling conspiracies of cultural invasion and disunity among Afghans in the name of language and religion.
Azizi added that the Islamic Emirate was striving to address the economic problems of the media and media institutions and to provide more facilities in terms of access to information and is fully committed to the freedom of expression and media in the light of Islamic sharia and national values.
He said that no one can deny the valuable role of the media in sharing the problems and demands of the society.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Finance and Administrative Affairs, Mawlavi Saduddin Saeed on this occasion said that the ministry was committed to freedom of expression and will cooperate with journalists in the near future through holding meetings with the spokespersons of all ministries.
Meanwhile, the head of Mobi Group, who spoke on behalf of the media at the meeting, shared media problems with the officials of the Ministry of Information and Culture and said that in the first days of the restoration of the Islamic Emirate, media was facing problems in terms of access to information and commercial advertisements, but now this problem has been mostly solved.
At the same time, Kabul University professor Shafiq Wardak said that there was still no specific definition for freedom of speech in Afghanistan, and to address the problems of the media system and to have a good coordination with the government, the best way is to clearly define national values.
The officials of the Ministry of Information and Culture assured in this meeting that they will continue their efforts to address the problems o media and media institutions.
The World Press Freedom Day was celebrated in many provinces of the country by the provincial directorates of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
