Khalilzad: The Washington Post's report on the situation in Afghanistan is exaggerated and unjustified

26 Apr 2023 - 13:50

Zalmi Khalilzad, the former representative of the US for the peace of Afghanistan, in response to the Washington Post's report that Afghanistan has again become a field of terrorism, said that this report is "exaggerated and unjustified" and added that nothing has happened so far.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Zalmi Khalilzad, the former representative of the United States for the peace of Afghanistan, wrote on his Twitter page last night, April 25, that the increase in terrorism from Afghanistan was one of the concerns related to the withdrawal of the United States; But so far this has not happened.

Khalilzad added that al-Qaeda has weakened significantly in Afghanistan and is in its worst situation in this country.

He added that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers ISIS Khorasan as its long-standing enemy and has carried out deadly attacks against this group and killed many ISIS leaders.

He emphasized that ISIS is a threat and that the Islamic Emirate and the United States have common interests against this terrorist group.

Khalilzad's tweet reads in part: "The experience of the last two years has been better than many expected - with no US casualties and a savings of $40 billion annually spent on war there."

Khalilzad asked the neighboring countries, especially Tajikistan, Pakistan and Iran; to do their part to prevent ISIS terrorists from crossing into Afghanistan.

It should be noted that a few days ago, the Washington Post wrote that Afghanistan has become a field of terrorism again; but the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate also rejected this claim separately and called it part of the propaganda against the Islamic Emirate.
