The International Monetary Fund is helping Ukraine with more than 15 billion dollars

2 Apr 2023 - 12:55

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund announced the allocation of 15.6 billion dollars for 48 months for Ukraine.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on his Twitter page on Friday night, March 31, that the International Monetary Fund has approved the program of sending a four-year loan to Ukraine.

He added: "I thank the International Monetary Fund for approving a four-year support program of 15.6 billion dollars."

The president of Ukraine considered this help important in the country's fight against the Russian attack.

However, he did not specify whether this loan will be used in the military sector or in the reconstruction of destroyed cities in Ukraine.

It has been more than a year since Russia's military attack on Ukraine, and during this time, in addition to the loss of life on both sides, huge financial losses have also been caused to Ukraine's infrastructure.

According to the officials in Kiev, since the attack, the Russian military has targeted most of the infrastructure, and because of this, millions of Ukrainian citizens have been deprived of housing, electricity and health services.

Earlier, international organizations had estimated that the reconstruction of Ukraine's infrastructure destroyed by the conflicts of the past one year would cost more than 40 billion dollars.
