Voluntary permission of Iran for further verification

At the end of the 2-day visit of Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, to Tehran and meeting and negotiating with high-ranking officials of Iran, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency issued a joint statement of cooperation.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): At the end of the 2-day visit of Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency to Tehran and meeting and negotiating with high-ranking officials of Iran, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency issued a joint statement of cooperation. .
 
Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, visited the Islamic Republic of Iran on March 3rd and 4th, 2023 (12th and 13th of Pisces 1401).
 
During this trip, he met and talked with Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amirabdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mohammad Eslami, the Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
 
These high-level meetings addressed the importance of taking steps to facilitate broader cooperation to expedite the resolution of remaining safeguards issues as appropriate.
 
Both sides believe that such positive interactions can pave the way for broader agreements between the member states.
 
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency reached an agreement regarding the following:
1: Interactions between the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran will be conducted in the spirit of cooperation and with full respect of the Agency's competences and the rights and obligations of the Islamic Republic of Iran based on comprehensive safeguard agreements.
 
2: Regarding the remaining safeguarding issues related to three places, Iran announced its readiness to continue cooperation and provide more information and access in order to address the remaining safeguarding issues.
 
3: Iran voluntarily allows the agency to carry out further verification and monitoring activities if necessary. The method of its implementation will be agreed between the two parties during a technical meeting that will be held soon in Tehran.
 
Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, stated that significant progress was made in the dialogue with Iran and said: We reached a clear understanding to resolve safeguards issues.
 
On Saturday evening (M 4), at the Vienna airport, he assessed the importance of traveling to Tehran and meeting with Iran's high-ranking officials and said: the general framework for moving forward has been obtained.
 
In response to a question about the enrichment of uranium with 60% enrichment in Iran, he added: The Islamic Republic of Iran does not need to explain to the Agency about this.
 
He said: They enrich at the level they declare and then we carry out the necessary inspections.
 
Grossi called the results of the talks on how to enrich Iran satisfactory and said: There are other issues related to Iran's nuclear program, but they are not related to this issue.
 
Grossi mentioned that soon technical meetings will be held in Iran to resolve security issues.
