AVA - 23,000 people were diagnosed with cancer last year in Afghanistan

Officials of the Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate said at the "World Cancer Day Meeting" that last year, nearly 23,000 cancer patients were registered in the country, and 16,000 of them died.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate held the "World Cancer Day Meeting" on Wednesday (February 8) in Kabul.

Habibullah Akhundzada, Deputy Minister of Public Health Services, said in this meeting that after heart diseases, cancer has the highest death toll in the world.

The Minister of Supply of Services of the Ministry of Public Health also said: nearly 23,000 positive cases of cancer have been registered in 2022 across the country.

Zabihullah Hashemi, the head of the National Cancer Control Program, also said in this meeting: Every member of the society from any stratum and at any level can have support and participation in the treatment of cancer, which can be treated in a simple and strong way.

Ahmad Sir Pasoon, the head of medical treatment of the Ministry of Public Health, also said: The survey of the International IR Agency on cancer shows that twelve out of a hundred people get cancer, and eleven of them die.

After heart disease, cancer has the highest mortality rate in the world; According to statistics, 44 million people were infected with this disease last year worldwide, and ten million of them died.
