6 Feb 2023 - 14:19

US President Joe Biden has extended the state of national emergency regarding Afghanistan due to what he called "a widespread humanitarian crisis and the possibility of a deep economic collapse in this country".

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In a letter to the President of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate, Joe Biden, the President of the United States of America, said that due to the widespread humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and the possibility of a deep economic collapse in this country, a state of emergency which was announced in Executive Order number 14064 on February 11, 2022, has been extended.

This decree was issued regarding the distribution of the frozen assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan, half of which was allocated to the survivors of the September 11th attacks.

In his letter, Biden said that the widespread humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan - including the urgent needs of the Afghan people for food security, livelihood support, water, health, sanitation, shelter and housing assistance and assistance related to Covid-19, among other basic humanitarian needs - and the potential The deep economic collapse in Afghanistan remains an extraordinary and extraordinary threat to US national security and foreign policy.

He said that preserving the assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan, which are kept in America by financial institutions, is of great importance to deal with this national emergency and the welfare of the Afghan people.

This is despite the fact that the reserves of about 10 billion dollars of the Central Bank of the country have been blocked after the domination of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan.

But a few months later, by signing an executive order, US President Joe Biden earmarked part of the reserves of the Central Bank of Afghanistan for the victims of September 11 and another part for humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
