Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Local media reported today Wednesday (February 1) about a rocket attack on a Turkish military base in northern Iraq.
"Al-Jazeera" network, quoting the officials of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, reported that 8 rockets were fired at the "Zelikan" base in Mosul province, which is the location of the Turkish military.
However, according to an Iraqi security source, the reporter of "Al-Mayadeen" network said that 20 Grad rockets with a caliber of 122 mm targeted the Zelikan base in "Jabal Bashiqa".
According to this report, this security source explained that at least 15 clear explosions were heard in this base.
More details about possible damages or casualties, as well as the group responsible for carrying out this attack on the Turkish military base, have not yet been published.
The military bases of the Turkish army in northern Iraq have always been the target of rocket and drone attacks by unknown groups in the past months.
For a long time, Turkey has been violating the territorial integrity of northern Iraq by claiming to confront the PKK terrorist group. The PKK group, which has been in military conflict with the Ankara government for the past 35 years, is recognized as a terrorist group by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
