28 Jan 2023 - 14:45

Officials in the Ministry of Industry and Trade say that Afghanistan has exported more than 1.4 billion dollars in the last 9 months and this figure will reach 2 billion dollars by the end of the year.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Abdul Salam Akhundzada Javad, the spokesman of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, stated in an interview with an AVA reporter that Afghanistan's exports have increased significantly compared to previous years.

He added that in the last 9 months, Afghan traders have exported goods worth 1.424 billion dollars, while this figure was 478 and 434 million dollars in 1400 and 1399.

Javad pointed out that the Islamic Emirate, especially the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is committed to increase this figure to 2 billion dollars by the end of 2011.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that most of Afghanistan's export items are coal, dry and fresh fruits, cotton and vegetables.

He also said that Afghanistan's export items were exported to Pakistan, India, Uzbekistan, China, Iran, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Turkmenistan.

In another part of his speech, Javad also welcomed the new report of the World Bank on the reduction of inflation, increase in exports and improvement of Afghanistan's economic indicators and said that the objective facts were discussed in this report.

Meanwhile, the World Bank announced in its latest report on Afghanistan's economic situation that while food and non-food items are widely available, consumer price index inflation continues to decline.

Based on this report; Annual inflation eased to 9.1% in November 2022 from a peak of 18.3% in July 2022. The decrease of 3.9 percentage points year-on-year between November 2022 and December 2022 can be attributed to the decrease in inflation of fuel (8 percentage points), wheat (5.1 percentage points), sugar (2.7 percentage points), edible oil (2.2 percentage points), bread (1.5 percentage unit) etc. explained.

At the same time, the Economic Deputy Office of the Ministry of the Islamic Emirate welcomed the World Bank's report on Afghanistan's economic situation and said that if the sanctions on the banking sector are lifted and Afghanistan's assets are freed, Afghanistan's economy will be better than the current situation.
