Amina Mohammad, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and the accompanying delegation met with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Kabul yesterday (January 18). In a meeting with this delegation, Muttaqi criticized the international community for imposing restrictions on Afghanistan, not removing the names of the leaders of the Islamic Emirate from the black list, and not handing over Afghanistan's seat in the United Nations to the representative of the Islamic Emirate government.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a message today saying that Amir Khan Muttaqi met with the high-level delegation of the United Nations led by Amina Mohammad.
 
In this meeting, Muttaqi addressed the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and said that the sanctions on Afghanistan are still in place, while according to him, it is stated in the Doha Agreement that the leaders of the Islamic Emirate are allowed to travel.
 
He emphasized: "When our leaders don't travel abroad, don't have meetings with you and the rest of the world, how can relations improve?"
 
Earlier, Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson of the United Nations Secretary General, said regarding the delegation's visit to Kabul: "They have gone to Afghanistan to support women." Earlier, they met with the leadership of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and groups of Afghan women in Ankara and Islamabad. "Everyone agrees on the vital role of the United Nations in finding a solution in Afghanistan."
 
The issue of international legitimacy of the government of the Islamic Emirate is one of the other issues that were discussed in the meeting of the Acting Foreign Minister with the high-level delegation of the United Nations. Motaghi said: "The seat of Afghanistan in the United Nations is in the hands of someone who neither represents the government nor the people."
 
Also, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed to the sanctions on Afghan banks and said that Afghan businessmen are facing serious problems and they cannot transfer their money even because of banking problems to import food and fuel to Afghanistan.
 
Amir Khan Muttaqi, in a part of his speech, said that providing security, combating drug cultivation and treating addicts are among the things that the government of the Islamic Emirate has succeeded in, but the world has not cooperated in this field.
 
In another part of his speech, Amir Khan Muttaqi mentioned the issue of education and said that 9 million people are engaged in education, but the international community does not help them.
 
He said: "If one million people are left out of education, another 9 million, including boys and girls, are engaged in education. They are also human and need help. Why doesn't the international community help them?"
 
The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that the Islamic Emirate has cooperated well in delivering humanitarian aid to places that were deprived of aid in the past 20 years.
 
He added: "Now that the restriction has been imposed, let's be patient and find a solution for it."
