Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: A six-day national seminar on environmental issues and capacity building was launched by the National Environmental Protection Agency at the Civil Service Institute on Tuesday (December 13), in which from 34 provinces of the country Representatives of the National Department of Environmental Protection and officials of the Islamic Emirate shared.
Dr. Zain al-Abidin Abid, Deputy Professional and Policy of the National Environmental Protection Agency said: As everyone knows, the issue of the environment is considered a very important issue in the world and in Afghanistan, and serious attention should be paid to this issue.
He said that fortunately, after the victory of the Islamic Emirate, security has been established throughout the country and the long war that destroyed our environment is over, and now we must join hands to protect the country's environment.
He stated that measures should be taken to prevent and periodically monitor the activities of factories, cooperate with related bodies in the fight against climate change, and said: We must find solutions together for the activities that pollute our environment.
Also, Mr. Abed asked the western countries not to associate the issue of environment with politics, it is a human issue and should be given serious attention.
He emphasized that Afghanistan's environmental projects, which are currently suspended by the international community, should be started as soon as possible.
This is despite the fact that not long ago, Ramez Al-Akbarov, the deputy special representative of the UN Secretary General in Afghanistan, said at the climate change meeting in Egypt that Afghanistan has been permanently damaged by climate change.
Ramez Al-Akbarov said: "It is very annoying that the most vulnerable Afghans repeatedly suffer environmental disasters, while we always manage short-term crises, create long-term flexibility and adaptation, and in the absence of appropriate funding, this adaptation is increasingly It becomes challenging."
On the part of Mawlavi Najibullah Haqqani, Acting Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, he asked the industrialized countries to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.
Addressing industrialized countries, he added that they should standardize their industrial activities and help backward countries that are affected by their negative environmental activities.
It is worth noting that this seminar will continue for six days and the participants will be given useful environmental lectures by experts.
