The International Olympic Committee has warned the Islamic Emirate that allowing women and girls safe access to sports is a condition for Afghan athletes to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) expressed concern about the restrictions imposed by the Afghan authorities on women athletes.
The International Olympic Committee has said that Afghanistan's participation in the Paris Summer Olympics in 2024 depends on the progress made in relation to the issue of "access to sports for women and girls".
The International Olympic Committee also added that Afghan teams in international events should include female athletes from inside and outside the country, and women should also have a role in management.
Human Rights Watch on Monday called on the International Olympic Committee to suspend Afghanistan's membership and stop its financial aid due to the Taliban's restrictions on female athletes.
The International Olympic Committee has said that direct support to Afghan athletes will continue, if possible, to prepare them for the Olympic Games.
Afghanistan had a team consisting of four men and one woman in the last Tokyo Summer Olympics.
