AVA - Local Officials: Repair of Salang Highway Has Begun

Repairs of Salang highway have begun. Officials of the Department of Preservation and Maintenance of Salang Highway announced.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, They said that work has been delayed because of the weather and because daily traffic cannot be diverted because there is no alternate route.

“The low temperatures make our work slow and we cannot close the highway for cars and that is also a big challenge for our work,” said Mohammad Yaqoob, who is in charge of the highway’s management.

Officials of the Payman Kaar promised that they will reconstruct this highway in such a way that it is weather-resistant.

“We carry out our work according to the standards of the Ministry of Public Works,” said Mohammad Shafi, head of the project.

According to information from the Ministry of Public Works, the reconstruction of this highway will be complete in one year.
