Mawlavi Mawazuddin Ahmadi, the head of information and culture of Badakhshan province, has confirmed the occurrence of a magnitude 5.1 earthquake in this province, and says that no information has yet been released about possible losses and casualties.
 
The US Geological Survey has said that this earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale occurred in Ashkashim district of this province.
 
This is despite the fact that last month, the American Seismological Center announced that a relatively strong earthquake occurred in the southwest of Jarem district of Badakhshan province.
