According to local sources in Kandahar province, the outbreak of measles in this province has killed 29 children in the last three months.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Dr. Mohammad Sediq, head of the pediatric department of the Mirwais seminary hospital in Kandahar, also says that during the months of Taurus, Gemini and Cancer, 487 children with measles were transferred to this hospital.
Mohammad Sediq adds that many children with measles have low resistance and therefore the risk of death is high.
According to him, the heat of the air and the lack of oxygen cause children to get measles and the patient should be taken to the hospital as soon as possible.
At the same time, he criticized the families for not taking their sick children to the hospital on time.
This is despite the fact that recently the number of children with measles has increased in Kandahar districts.
Health sources believe that the most important reason for the increase of measles in children is the neglect of families and they ask them to take their children to the hospital if they get sick.
