A Pakistani newspaper quoted the officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan as saying that Omar Khalid Khorasani, one of the top commanders of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, was killed in Paktika.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Local sources in Paktika reported an explosion in the village of "Sharki" in "Barmal" district and they say that senior members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were targeted in this incident.
 
The nature of the explosion is still unknown, some sources consider it to be the result of an air strike, and some consider the explosion to be the result of a car carrying members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan colliding with a roadside bomb.
 
Pakistan's "Express Tribune" newspaper quoted officials of the Islamic Emirate government as saying that Omar Khalid Khorasani, one of the top commanders of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, was killed in this incident.
 
According to this source, the leaders of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, who are present in Afghanistan for peace talks with the Islamabad government, were traveling "to consult" with other members of the group when this incident occurred.
 
A roadside bomb struck a vehicle carrying members of the Pakistani Taliban late at night in eastern Afghanistan, killing a senior leader and three other militants, several Pakistani officials and militant figures said Monday.
 
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the killing of Abdul Wali, known as Omar Khalid Khorasani, on Sunday night in Afghanistan's Paktika province. His death is a heavy blow to the Pakistani Taliban and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
 
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, without providing evidence or further explanation, blamed Pakistani intelligence agents for this murder.
 
The other three killed fighters included Khorasani's driver and two of his close assistants. No one else was in the car at the time of the attack, according to Pakistani officials and TTP members who spoke to The Associated Press.
 
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has been waging insurgencies in Pakistan for the past 14 years and has fought for stricter implementation of Islamic laws in the country, the release of its members who are in government custody, and the reduction of Pakistan's military presence in the country's former tribal areas.
 
Khorasani was part of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) negotiators who have been talking with Pakistani authorities since May. Three other fighters who were killed in this bombing were identified by security officials and members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan as Hassan Ali, Mufti Hassan and Hafiz Dawlat.
 
It is not yet clear whether Khorasani's killing will affect the three-month ceasefire between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the Pakistani government.
 
The ceasefire was initially announced in May and later extended indefinitely after talks between the Pakistani government and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan hosted by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Kabul.
 
The ceasefire has largely held, raising the prospect of progress in talks between the two sides.
