Public health officials of Jawzjan say that the number of cholera cases in this province has reached 18,000 people, which is due to the lack of safe drinking water.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mazar-e-Sharif: Abdul Ghani Samim; The director of public health in Jawzjan told AVA today, Sunday August 7, 2022: 18,000 people have been infected with cholera in Mardian, Mangjik, Agcheh, Faiz Abad and Khanqah districts of this province.
According to him, out of 18,000 cases, 7,000 people have gone to health centers and more have remained at their homes.
He added that so far 12 people have died as a result of cholera in Jawzjan, which was caused by not going to health centers and receiving treatment at home.
Samim attributed the increase of cholera to the lack of safe drinking water in the districts of Jawzjan and said that the efforts to provide water by donor institutions are continuing.
The director of public health of Jawzjan said that cholera cases are currently under control, there are facilities to deal with it, and the lack of medicine will be resolved soon.
Meanwhile, cholera has spread in the southern, central and northern provinces, in addition to Jawzjan, in Samangan and Kunduz during the last month.
