"We call on Israel to launch a criminal investigation into the murder of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Aklah," Bachelet said in an opening speech at the UN Human Rights Council.
 
"Israel must investigate all cases of such killings by its forces," she was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
 
She also announced that she would not run for a second four-year term after completing her first term as UN Secretary-General.
