Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: Iraqi sources announced on Wednesday evening that a military unit of the US Consulate in Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, had been attacked by a drone.
Some sources also say that a sensitive security area was targeted near the UAE consulate and at a distance from the US consulate building.
Iraqi sources also reported the sound of several explosions near Erbil airport.
The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a U.S. consulate in al-Masif, near the Shawis complex in northern Erbil.
The Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has said the blast in northern Erbil was caused by a drone that crashed.
According to the Kurdistan Regional Security Agency, the drone attacked the Erbil-Barman route in the north of Erbil province at 21:30 local time.
Officials in the Kurdistan Region say that in the attack, some vehicles (cars) and a restaurant were damaged due to the crash of a drone and its explosion, and three people were injured and taken to hospital.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
