Egyptian court sentences 23 member of Ikhwanul Muslimin to death and life in prison

The Egyptian criminal court sentenced three members of the Egyptian Ikhwanul Muslimin to death and 20 members of the group to life in prison after being convicted in 18 cases.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA), Egyptian court sentenced 3 members of the Egyptian Ikhwanul Muslimin to death and 20 other members of the group on charges such as attempting to assassinate Tariq Abu Zayd, head of the Fayum court, Assassination of police officers, shooting at police stations, preparation and installation of explosives in critical areas sentenced to life imprisonment.

The court sentenced Mohammad Abdullah Khamis Idris, a 32-year-old driver nicknamed "Samka", Mohammad Saleh Riyadh, a 25-year-old driver nicknamed "Abu Sana", a former ceramic factory worker, and "Halil Abdullah Ali Rahil", a 30-year-old worker, to death.

Following the ouster of former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in 2013, the Egyptian government, led by Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, prosecuted and arrested leaders and members of the Ikhwanul Muslimin on terrorism charges.
