FARAH, Afghanistan – At least 20 Afghan National Army troops killed and further 10 taken hostage by the Taliban militants in an attacked carried in Bala Block of Farah province, local authorities confirmed.
Gul Ahman Faqiri, a provincial council members, in an interview with Khaama Press said the Taliban affiliated insurgents carried an attack Saturday night near Herat-Kandahar highway in Kansak of Bala Block district.
According to Faqiri, 20 Afghan army members were killed, after the Taliban gained control over the security post in the area.
Meanwhile, the Taliban took 10 forces hostage, he said, and a number of arms and ammunition was also seized by the militant group.
Officials did not provide further details, but said Taliban also suffered great casualties in clashes with Afghan forces.
The Taliban did not immediately comment on the incident.
