A United Arab Emirates company will invest in a 3,000 megawatts (MW) solar power project in Afghanistan, authorities said.
PAL 4 SOLAR Energy LLC’s Managing Director Muhammad Zafar signed the agreement with Ataullah Naseeb, head of investment facilitation unit of Administrative Office of the President, and Ahmad Dawood Noorzai, head of Afghan national power utility Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat.
The signing ceremony, which was held via video link between Kabul and Abu Dhabi, was attended also by Kabir Esa, the president’s senior on legal affairs.
Based on the agreement, PAL 4 Solar Energy will invest in building and installing solar panels and generation of solar power in Afghanistan.
It is estimated that Afghanistan requires around 3,000 MW of electricity to meet its needs.
