Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Kabul Medical University has built a ventilator from items that are available in Afghan markets, officials said on Friday.
Health ministry officials have approved the ventilator for treatment of patients and called for building more of it, according to a statement from Higher Education Ministry.
While a ventilator is priced around 30,000 US dollars in global markets, that built in Kabul Medical University cost around $400, the statement said.
University officials said that they could build one ventilator in every three days.
Afghanistan has confirmed 2,335 coronavirus cases.
