Ministry of Public Health says that out of a total of 2,737 suspected samples of Coronavirus that have so far reached MoPH laboratories, 367 have been tested positive.
MoPH spokesman Wahidullah Mayar, who spoke at the ministry’s press briefing on coronavirus at the Government Media and Information Center on Monday, added that 30 new coronavirus cases had been recorded in the past 24 hours.
Of these, 16 are in Herat province, 6 in Kabul, 3 in Nimroz, 2 in Kunduz, 2 in Faryab, and 1 in Daikundi province.
Mayar expressed concern over the death of doctor due to Covid19 in a private hospital, citing the lack of facilities in private hospitals as the cause of death, and urging hospital officials to refer patients with Covid19 for further treatments to MoPH hospital that are dedicated to the treatment of these patients.
Asked which gender the coronavirus most commonly affects, the spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health said: “MoPH Studies show that 23 percent of Covid19 patients in the country are women and about 73 percent are men.”
He noted that the majority of Covid19 patients were elderly people and called on young people of families to observe personal hygiene while entering their homes to prevent the spread of the virus.
