The Afghan security forces have killed three Taliban militants in the southern Helmand province, said an army statement released on Sunday.

The security forces backed by fighting planes, according to the statement, stormed Taliban hideouts in the restive Nad Ali and neighboring Gereshk district on Saturday, killing three armed insurgents.
Without providing more details, the statement said that the security forces would continue to chase the insurgents elsewhere in the country.
Taliban militants who are active in parts of the restive Helmand and neighboring Kandahar and Zabul provinces have not commented on the report.
